SÃO PAULO, SP (FOLHAPRESS) - Michael J. Fox will act again, after announcing his retirement in 2020, due to the advancement of Parkinson's disease. The actor will join the cast of the fourth season of the comedy series "Falando a Real", on Apple TV, which is now being recorded in California, after participating in the third season of the same program, shown this year.

Directed by Bill Lawrence, the new season has not yet had a release date announced. Michael J. Fox was nominated for a 2026 Emmy for his participation in the third season of the same program - he is competing in the category of best guest actor in a comedy series, playing Gerry.

During the pandemic, the 65-year-old actor had said he would stop working due to the difficulty of using speech in his daily life. Acting, he told the Hollywood Reporter in an interview published on Thursday, "has prolonged my life and made it interesting in ways I didn't imagine would be possible up to this point."

"I haven't retired from acting, but if I didn't return to acting, it would be for a very good reason. I let Parkinson make the decisions for me," he added.

In "Speaking Really", Fox starred opposite Harrison Ford, who played a doctor with Parkinson's disease. Fox plays a patient who also faces Parkinson's and meets the doctor in his office, creating a bond with him.

Fox discovered he had Parkinson's disease in 1991, at the age of 29, while filming the film "Doctor da Roça". He kept his diagnosis secret from the public for seven years, revealing his condition only in 1998, and after that he became a spokesperson for how the condition affects the lives of those who live with it - it is estimated that more than ten million people in the world.
