Andréa Sorvetão says that breaking up with Xuxa is political and refutes accusations of homophobia

In a video published on social media, Sorvetão appeared dressed as a paquita and challenged the association made by internet users. Although Xuxa did not mention her name in the interview, the former stage assistant stated that she does not accept being labeled in this way and insinuated that other former Paquitas had prejudiced behavior.

Andréa commented: "About 'homophobic paquita', as you put it there, I already said that I don't receive that banner. Pay attention to who is around you, because there is paquita by your side who has already mistreated a fan saying: 'Become a man'. And another, very close to you, I didn't want to take a photo with a beautiful drag queen", she said.

Afterwards, she stated that the origin of the disagreement with Xuxa is political. "Let's stop this. Your disagreement with me is political, yes, since we said that we are a straight, Christian and traditional couple. That's where the whole problem was caused. Since then you've been wanting to put this banner on me and Conrado. But we don't receive this banner. We remain firm in what we think and defend", declared the businesswoman.

The demonstration takes place a week after Sorvetão commented on a publication about a European summer trend. “Boy, yag man, right?” she wrote. "Yag" is a slang term used by the LGBTQIA+ community formed by the word "gay" spelled backwards.

On Wednesday (22), in an interview with Hugo Gloss, Xuxa stated that the end of his friendship with a former paquita was not related to politics, but to homophobia. "A lot of people say: 'Xuxa stopped talking to a paquita due to politics'. No. I only stop talking to a paquita if she's homophobic. For me, I can't stand that. Homophobia isn't okay," he said.

Xuxa and Andréa Sorvetão broke off their friendship in 2021, after more than three decades of coexistence. Furthermore, Sasha's mother is the godmother of the ex-paquita's eldest daughter with singer Conrado. At the time, she and her husband published a video in which they defined themselves as "a straight, traditional Christian couple", an episode that generated repercussions on social media.

Sorvetão was a candidate for federal deputy for the Republicans (RJ) in the 2022 elections for the Republican party, receiving 1,734 votes and not being elected.

The following year, former Paquita Lana Rhodes said, during her appearance on the Barba Cast podcast, that Andréa was expelled from a group with Paquitas on WhatsApp during the election period. "You can vote for whoever you want. But if you want a relationship with humanist people, you need, at a minimum, to either respect them or be them. And then a lack of respect started to occur. And we said: 'lack of respect doesn't happen. Please leave'".

The subject related to Sorvetão came up again during the promotion of the tour "O Último Voo da Nave", which debuts this Saturday (25), in São Paulo. Xuxa stated that she invited all former Paquitas to participate in the video tribute, as long as they authorized the use of their images. "I asked a lot for everyone to be on the screen. So, there will be everyone's faces. Obviously, permission was given. If you didn't give permission, I can't put it on," he explained. On stage, there will only be 13 former assistants.
