People magazine confirmed that the Broadway actor died by suicide. He passed away last Friday, July 10, at the age of 44.
The news of his death was announced in a post made by fellow actor Rob McClure on Instagram, on Sunday, July 12. The two acted together in the musical Something Rotten!.
"It is with a broken heart that I share that the brilliant Josh Grisetti took his own life on Friday," McClure wrote in the post.
"I'm not prepared to even try to understand. My heart goes out to his wife and family as they try to deal with this reality," he added. He then recalled the moments when they worked together and said that he was best man at his colleague and friend's wedding.
"Maggie [his wife] and I are devastated. We love you, Josh. It's a huge loss," he said, promising that information about the funeral "will be released soon."

Josh Grisetti, among the many projects he was part of, played Ralph Emerson in the fifth and final season of "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel", appearing in eight episodes. At the beginning of his career, People also recalls, he worked alongside Donal Logue and Sofía Vergara in the ABC sitcom "The Knights of Prosperity", in 2007.
The actor was born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Virginia. He studied at the North Carolina School of the Arts and attended the Boston Conservatory in 2004. In 2015, the magazine recalls, he starred in the Broadway musical "It Shoulda Been You" alongside Sierra Boggess, Tyne Daly, Harriet Harris, David Burtka, Montego Glover, Lisa Howard and Chip Zien.
The following year, Josh Grisetti succeeded John Cariani as Nigel Bottom in "Something Rotten!", and starred opposite Rob McClure, who played Nick Bottom. He also acted in films such as "The Immigrant", "Revolutionary Road" and "The Namesake".
The act leaves his wife, Mackenzie Grisetti, to whom he had been married for six years.
