The information was confirmed by Retiro dos Artistas, a place of assisted living for elderly artists, where Rui Rezende has lived since 2019.
José Pereira Rezende Filho was born in 1938, in Araguari, Minas Gerais, and began working on television in 1966, on the soap opera Somos Todos Irmãos, on TV Tupi. Throughout his career, he acted in several soap operas and miniseries on Tupi and on the stations Excelsior, Manchete and Globo.
Among the characters he played in his long career, Astromar Junqueira stands out, the werewolf in the soap opera Roque Santeiro, on TV Globo in 1985.
Rui Rezende also participated in other soap operas, including O Espigão, in 1974; O Casarão, in 1976; and Meu Bem Querer, in 1998. He also acted in numerous plays and films.
