The man accused of killing his partner with 28 stab wounds, in Guarapuava, Paraná, locked the door of the house with a padlock to commit the crime without being prevented, according to the Civil Police. Neighbors who tried to enter the property could only hear the screams of the victim, Suelen Cristina Cordeiro, 31 years old. According to the investigation, the attack lasted about six minutes.

The crime took place late on the night of June 27th. The conclusion of the investigation was presented this Wednesday (8), during a press conference given by delegate Ana Hass de Miranda, head of the Women's Police Station. The police authority asked the Public Ministry of Paraná to indict Anderson José da Fonseca for the crime of feminicide.

Anderson's defense released a note in which they stated that “the investigation is at an embryonic stage” and that “any value judgment or hasty conclusion is premature and could compromise the search for the real truth”.

The investigation showed that, after committing the crime, Anderson changed his clothes and went to a bar close to the residence, where he was arrested in the act. The police seized the suspect's vehicle, the clothes he was wearing and a jacket that the victim had used to try to protect himself.

Report indicates that the victim suffered 28 stab wounds. The autopsy report indicated that Suelen was hit by 28 stab wounds in vital regions, such as the chest, back and abdomen. She also had injuries to her hands, which indicate an attempt to defend herself, as well as bruises on her body caused by other attacks.

According to the delegate, the blood spatter found in the rooms shows that the victim tried to escape the attacker inside the house. Before starting the attack, the man allegedly locked the property from the inside with a padlock to prevent neighbors from providing assistance. After the crime, he left through a window and discarded the residence key.

Still according to the investigation, Suelen and Anderson went out together that night and went to a bar, where they met his cousin and a friend of the couple. As the suspect was under restrictive measures due to a previous criminal case, they had to return home and were accompanied by their friends.

Some time later, the cousin and her friend left the property to get drinks. When they returned, they found the door locked and heard Suelen screaming for help. Other residents also approached, but no one managed to enter. The police were then called.

Suelen had already reported previous attacks. The delegate reported that Anderson had a history of robbery and had already been involved in another case of violence against a former partner. The woman would have been forced to leave the city to escape his harassment.

Witnesses also reported that Suelen had previously been attacked by her partner, but did not go to the police for fear of reprisals.

After arrest, Anderson was interrogated and denied the crime. He named a former partner of the victim as the perpetrator of the feminicide. The version, however, was discarded by the police.

Security camera footage only shows the couple and their friends entering the residence. Furthermore, witnesses confirmed that, at the time of the crime, the property was locked and only Suelen and Anderson remained there.

The Guarapuava Chamber Ombudsman's Office released a note of condolence over the victim's death.

“Suelen had a life ahead of her and leaves behind three children, who are now facing the irreparable pain of losing their mother prematurely,” stated the agency.
