Artist sells trash from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding
An artist decided to transform the trash collected around Madison Square Garden, in New York, during the wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, into pieces sold as souvenirs of the event. Justin Gignac collected...
Justin Gignac collected waste found outside the ceremony site, which took place on July 3, and placed it inside small cubes of transparent plastic, hermetically sealed and presented as works of art.
Among the items used in the pieces were cigarette butts, candy wrappers, plastic bags and even a left AirPod.
"There's trash on the floor after the party. Picked up on the sidelines of a love story, outside Madison Square Garden, as close to Taylor and Travis' big day as anyone could get without an invitation," the artist wrote on his page

The cubes bore the “New York City Garbage” brand, as well as the phrase “JUST&T MARRIED!”, a reference to the wedding, and the date of the ceremony.
Gignac also said that he went to the venue wearing a tuxedo, which led some people to believe that he was one of the guests.
“Unfortunately, I wasn't invited, so I couldn't get any of the good rubbish inside,” he joked during an interview on a CKIS-FM radio program.
In total, the artist produced 50 commemorative units, sold for US$25 each on his website. All cubes sold out in less than 24 hours.
Gignac has worked for over 25 years collecting trash on the streets of New York and transforming the materials into souvenirs of important events in the city.
Although he recognizes that the objects were not necessarily discarded by the guests, he states that the pieces function as wedding souvenirs because they were assembled with waste found nearby while the ceremony was taking place.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce got married on July 3, at Madison Square Garden, in a celebration surrounded by secrecy and attended by several celebrities.
