Remember the case Operation False Emergency investigated alleged irregularities in the hiring of the Irmandade da Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Itatiba to manage the Emergency Care Units (UPAs) North and South of Palmas. The first phase of the operation was launched on May 21, when the Civil Police carried out ten search and seizure warrants in Palmas. On June 10, the then municipal secretary of Health, Dhieine Caminski, and the then superintendent of Health Care, Andreis Vicente da Costa, were arrested by court order. In the same operation, businesswoman Cláudia Fernanda Cândido da Silva was considered a fugitive and later presented herself. Still in June, the Civil Police concluded the investigation and indicted ten people on suspicion of fraud in the hiring of the entity responsible for managing the UPAs, possible diversion of public resources and association between public and private agents. At the same time, the State Court of Auditors (TCE-TO) maintained the precautionary suspension of the contract worth more than R$139 million signed without a bidding process to manage the health units, determining a period of 60 days for the City Hall to reorganize the provision of the service.
