In recent years, the Television Academy has relied on comedians, talk show hosts and actors to lead the ceremony. The last woman to hold the position was Jane Lynch, in 2011. Before her, only Ellen DeGeneres and Heidi Klum had presented the awards this century, making Hargitay the fourth woman to hold the role since 2000.
The actress won the Emmy for best actress in a drama series for "Law & Order: SVU" and received another trophy for the documentary "I Am Evidence", of which she was a producer. She also won a Golden Globe and has six SAG award nominations.
The 2026 Emmy nominees will be announced this Wednesday (8). In addition to the main ceremony, the Creative Arts Emmy will be held on September 5th and 6th. In the United States, the awards show will be shown on NBC and Peacock. In Brazil, transmission will be carried out by TNT and HBO Max.
