The President of the United States, Donald Trump, said this Sunday (12) that prices in the country are falling, "in line with the drop in oil and gas prices", in a publication in Truth Social. The American leader also claimed to have an approval rating of 59%.

Despite the statement, inflation continues to rise in the United States. In May, the CPI consumer price index increased 4.2% year-on-year, compared to 3.8% in April. The consumer spending price index (PCE), which is the Federal Reserve's (Fed) preferred measure, went from 3.8% in April to 4.1% in May.

Oil prices rose up to 5% last week, in the face of new hostilities between the United States and Japan. On Sunday night, futures contracts rose more than 4%, in light of the escalation of the conflict.

Regarding the government's approval rating, Trump is far from the alleged 59%. In June, an AP-NORC survey showed that 37% of American voters approve of the Republican's administration. At the same time, a Reuters/Ipsos survey showed a rate of 36%.
