According to data provided by police sources to the Spanish news agency EFE, the last six bodies were also recovered by agents from the armed institute during the search near the Tarajal border crossing.
All bodies were transferred to the Civil Guard facilities in the fishing port to carry out an autopsy that will reveal the exact causes of death.
The first hypotheses suggest that these people died from asphyxiation due to immersion while trying to reach the Ceuta coast on this day of maximum migratory pressure in the vicinity of the southern Tarajal border pier.
With the deaths recorded this Thursday, the number of migrants found dead in the waters off the coast of Ceuta since the beginning of the year rises to 45.
The Unified Association of Civil Guards (AUGC) assured tonight that "massive" arrivals of immigrants are taking place through the border perimeters of Ceuta and Melilla.
"The situation is very complicated", published the AUGC on social media, for which the figure of refusal at the border "because there are not enough civil guards" would be legally applicable.
The association called on the Ministry of the Interior to immediately reinforce the security system in the two autonomous cities, while expressing all its support for the civil guards deployed in both locations.
The Beni Enzar border, the only operational one between Spain and Morocco in Melilla, remains closed, according to the Government delegation in the autonomous city, which asked citizens not to travel to the border perimeter so as not to hinder the work of the Security Forces and Corps.
According to what EFE found, gunshots were heard around this border area, where there was an attempt to enter by running.
Spanish police elements are leading several groups of people from the border area.
Police sources told EFE that the State Security Forces had to intervene to repel attempts at illegal entry through the Melilla border.
As EFE was able to observe, the coming and going of police patrols is constant, both at the border crossing and at other points along the border, which is also being supervised from the air with drones and, previously, with helicopters.
