The Peruvian club comes from the group stage of the Libertadores, where they finished in third place in Key F. The team from Bragança Paulista secured a place in the knockout stage after finishing second in Group H of the continental tournament. Whoever advances after 180 minutes will face Atlético-MG in the round of 16.
After the 1-1 draw against Fluminense last Friday (17), coach Vagner Mancini indicated the maintenance of the starting lineup. However, the left wing should see the return of Juninho Capixaba, who was suspended in the Brasileirão and will resume his position in Cauê's place.
Furthermore, the São Paulo technical committee has expectations of counting on the return of midfielder Gabriel and center forward Isidro Pitta, both in the final stretch of physical recovery. The decisive match of the return is scheduled for next Wednesday (29), at 9:30 pm, at the Cícero de Souza Marques stadium, in Bragança Paulista (SP).
On the other hand, Sporting Cristal is enjoying a great moment under the command of Roberto Mosquera. The Peruvian team is riding on a recent unbeaten run and debuted in the Clausura Tournament with a triumph over Deportivo Garcilaso. Playing in Lima, the team usually sets a fast pace, focusing on runs down the wings and shots from outside the area.
The strength at home is proven by the club's record in Conmebol tournaments: it won 11 of the last 15 qualifying matches as home team. For the clash, however, the Peruvians have important absences in the medical department: Felipe Vizeu, with lower back pain, Christofer Gonzáles, with a ligament injury, and Juan Cuesta, with a foot problem.
