CURITIBA, PR (FOLHAPRESS) - A father was caught this Sunday (5) kicking his three-year-old daughter on a sidewalk, in the city of Francisco Beltrão, Paraná.

The attack was recorded by security cameras and the video began circulating on social media. From there, the Civil Police opened an investigation to confirm the identities of the victim and suspect.

The man went to the police station this Wednesday (8) to give a statement. He was interviewed and released. His name was not released.

In the video, the father appears walking on the sidewalk with his two children, the girl and a five-year-old boy. They carry bags with shopping. It is possible to see in the images that he turns to his daughter and kicks her in the face, causing her to fall to the ground.

The video has no sound, but another man who would have seen the attack immediately approaches and opens his arms, apparently questioning the situation and trying to intervene. The father makes a gesture repelling the man's approach and the child soon gets up. The three walk back down the sidewalk.

According to the Civil Police, the father confirmed the attack in a statement. "He claimed that he was motivated by the child's crying, but he said he did not fully remember the facts", says a statement from the corporation.

According to delegate Anderson Andrei, who is investigating the case, it is "at least a bodily injury".

"We ask for urgent protective measures for the children and their mother," he said. The analysis is being carried out by the State Court. The Guardianship Council was also contacted.

The child was subjected to a physical injury examination and the Civil Police are awaiting the conclusion of the expert report.

According to the corporation, family members and other witnesses are being interviewed. Investigators are also looking for more images from surveillance cameras of the route taken by the man and the children that day.
