(FOLHAPRESS) - After receiving a visit from Flávio Bolsonaro at the end of June, the president of Argentina, Javier Milei, will reciprocate the gesture with a meeting in Brazil with the pre-candidate for the PL Presidency, as stated by the ultraliberal himself this Friday (10).

In an interview with Radio Now, Milei said that the meeting will take place on the 25th in São Paulo, the date and place of the launch of Flávio's candidacy. "I will also make a stop in Brasília to greet Jair Bolsonaro," said the Argentine about the former president, currently under house arrest at his home in the capital.

He did not mention any visit to President Lula (PT), with whom he has a delicate relationship due to his history of attacks on the PT member. The two leaders also did not meet at the Mercosur summit in Asunción, at the end of last month, as the Argentinean withdrew from going to the bloc's annual meeting at the last minute.

Any visit to former president Bolsonaro would depend on approval from the STF (Supreme Federal Court). The former agent, under house arrest for health reasons, is restricted from receiving visitors. As ordered by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, only family members, doctors, lawyers and the healthcare team are authorized.

Milei's visit to Brazil will take place less than a month after the PL presidential candidate met with him at the president's official residence, Quinta de Olivos. "The blue wave is arriving in Brazil at the hands of Flávio Bolsonaro", said the Argentine when sharing a photo of the two on social media after the meeting.

"Blue wave" is what the right-wing victory streak in South America has been called, as opposed to the "pink wave" of the early 2000s that put several left-wing leaders in power. Right-wing populist Keiko Fujimori in Peru and ultra-rightist Abelardo de la Espriella in Colombia were the latest to join the tide, which encompasses Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador and Paraguay, in addition to Argentina itself.

The day before, Flávio had also mentioned the trend in an event hall at a luxury hotel in Buenos Aires. "While our neighbors, one by one, choose freedom and order, Brazil is still stuck in the past. We are the missing piece on this map. And I'm here to say, bluntly: in October, that changes," he said, in reference to the upcoming elections.

In the following weeks, Milei intends to travel to these other countries that elected conservative leaders.

On July 28th, he will be in Lima for Keiko's inauguration, whom he greeted as soon as the count reached 100%. "I congratulate Keiko Fujimori on her historic victory in Peru. The Peruvian people unite with Colombia and have sent a clear message: the region wants to return to the path of freedom and security," he said at the end of last month.

Bogotá is the destination in early August, when Espriella's inauguration will take place. "The Lion and the Tiger roar in Latin America", he stated when the ally won the vote, using the nicknames that the Argentine and the Colombian gave each other. "I congratulate Abelardo de la Espriella with all my heart on his historic victory in Colombia."

From there, he must fly to Ecuador to meet President Daniel Noboa, who in June decreed a new state of exception under the justification of combating violence in the country, which in recent years has seen crime rates multiply with the increase in cocaine trafficking and the strengthening of armed groups.

The tour indicates a change in positioning in international diplomacy. According to a survey by the Argentine newspaper La Nación, Milei has prioritized relations with the United States since coming to power - there have been 16 visits throughout his term so far, in contrast to three trips to Brazil, three to Paraguay, two to Chile and one to Bolivia.

Last October, the Argentine president had help from Donald Trump before his surprising victory in the legislative elections. Milei appealed to the US to avoid a currency crisis on the eve of the election, and the American government offered a financial rescue package to help the ally before the election.
