Lula talks to Putin about trade and geopolitics

The importance of supplying diesel and fertilizers to Brazil was emphasized during the phone call. In the conversation, which lasted around 1 hour, they also spoke about the intention to expand cooperation in areas such as energy, science and technology and naval.

On the topic of geopolitics, Lula was disappointed with the inability of the United Nations Security Council to find solutions to world conflicts. Russia is one of the protagonists in this regard, with a conflict that has lasted almost three years with Ukraine.

Lula maintains his speech of reaching a resolution through dialogue. In the phone call, he highlighted the humanitarian aspects of the conflicts, lamenting the loss of human lives, including civilians.

The Brazilian president also reiterated the country's support for Michelle Bachelet's candidacy for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations.

BRICS

Brics, an economic bloc that has Brazil and Russia as one of its members, was also the topic of conversation between Lula and Putin.

According to Planalto, there was consensus to continue working together in international forums, especially within the bloc.

Both also agreed on the importance of multilateralism, that is, a world with several protagonists and cooperation between different countries.
