Gabriel Medina announces the loss of his first child five days after marriage

The three-time world surfing champion confirmed the information to GE this Tuesday (4), informing that the pregnancy did not progress after the morphological examination carried out in the third month of pregnancy.

According to the athlete, the examination found that the pregnancy had been interrupted in the fetal stage. Medina did not give details about the diagnosis, but shortly after confirmation, he shared a message of hope in his Stories. In English, he published the phrase "Have faith, don't rush", signaling the delicate moment the couple was experiencing.

The news contrasts with the celebration last Thursday (30), when Medina and Isabella got married in an intimate ceremony on Paúba beach, in São Sebastião, on the north coast of São Paulo. During the vows, the surfer surprised family and friends by revealing that the two were expecting their first child.

"God always surprises me with the gifts of life. And he gave us the greatest of them: our son. There are even friends of mine discovering it now, but beauty", he said at the time.

The announcement of the pregnancy quickly had repercussions on social media, as neither family nor close friends knew about the pregnancy. The couple had gotten engaged a few weeks before the wedding and chose to share the news only during the ceremony, in one of the most memorable moments of the celebration.

Despite the pregnancy loss, Medina maintains her sports schedule. The surfer leaves for Teahupo'o, in Tahiti, where he will compete in the next stage of the WSL World Tour. Olympic medalist and three-time world champion, he currently occupies fourth place in the rankings after six of the 13 stages of the season.
