Genial/Quaest research on voting intentions in the presidential election, released this Wednesday, 5th, shows that president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) remains in the lead in the simulation of a possible second round with senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ). The president would beat the PL candidate by 44% of voting intentions to 39%, with 13% blank and null votes and 4% undecided.

Both candidates have fluctuated within the margin of error of two percentage points since the previous round of polling, released in July. Lula was 45% to 44% and Flávio, 37% to 39%. In the comparison of the last three rounds, the indexes of both remain stagnant.
Lula also wins the second round simulations against Renan Santos (Missão), Ronaldo Caiado (PSD) and Romeu Zema (Novo). The PT member is also in the lead in the stimulated first round scenario, in addition to gathering the largest number of mentions in the spontaneous survey.
In the first round, Lula also leads the race for the Planalto Palace, registering 39% voting intentions in the stimulated scenario. The dispute is polarized by the PT member and Flávio Bolsonaro, who registered 30% of mentions. Third place is shared by Renan Santos and Ronaldo Caiado, with 4% each. They are followed by Zema, with 2%. Cabo Daciolo, Augusto Cury and Samara Martins have 1% each. Clariana Barão, Edmilson Costa and Hertz Dias did not score. 10% are undecided, and 8% intend to vote blank or null.
The data refer to the stimulated research. In the spontaneous modality, when the interviewee declares their intention to vote without being presented with the available options, Lula registered 25% of mentions, followed by Flávio Bolsonaro, with 18%. Other names add up to 5%. Former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), arrested and ineligible, was mentioned by 1% of those interviewed. Spontaneously, 51% of voters declare themselves undecided.
The Genial/Quaest survey interviewed 2,004 people between July 31st and August 3rd. The margin of error is two percentage points, and the confidence level is 95%. The survey is registered with the Superior Electoral Court under protocol BR-06591/2026.
Flávio Bolsonaro's allies blame Lula's government for rejecting the center and aim for 2nd round
Republicans, Podemos, União Brasil and PP decided not to support Flávio Bolsonaro in the first round. While the PL blames pressure from the Lula government, leaders from the center attribute the isolation to the lack of articulation in the campaign.
