Lula admits risk of Trump interference in elections
(FOLHAPRESS) - President Lula (PT) admitted this Thursday (30) to considering the possibility that the President of the United States, Donald Trump, would interfere in the Brazilian elections to support Flávio Bolsonaro...
"They [USA] will try to interfere here, trying to help the side there win the elections", he said in an interview with the Intelligence LTDA podcast. "And, much more [than Trump], Marco Rubio, who is his secretary of state."
"I'm not worried about that. My personal conversation with him was very good, but that's not what happens when we leave the meeting"
The day before, the PT member had already criticized Milei and Trump during a speech at the PSB convention, in Brasília. Lula said he would not let "anyone interfere" in the Brazilian elections, in reference to the Argentine and the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
Itamaraty refused visas to two US State Department officials last week. According to The Washington Post, Trump planned to send his aides to cast doubt on the integrity and transparency of the Brazilian electoral process.
The leader of Argentina referred to the Brazilian president as a "prisoner" and insulted Brazil by participating in the PL convention, in São Paulo, in support of Flávio Bolsonaro.
"As long as I'm president, no one from outside will bother the Brazilian elections," declared Lula at the PSB convention. "This week, we had to deny visas to two young people they sent to meddle in the Brazilian elections. We denied them."
"You saw the mess the president of Argentina made here. I didn't say anything because my relationship is that of the head of state and I really like the Argentine people and I'm not going to exchange 'things' with that 'thing'", he stated.
