In total, eight pieces were taken from the Apollo Gallery, which houses the French crown's royal collection of precious stones and diamonds. A ninth jewel, the crown of Empress Eugênia, wife of Napoleon III, was removed, but was found damaged in the street, according to the Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati.
