Even before leaving the studio, Marta Gómez Montero, a journalist at TVE, a public broadcaster in Spain, left in tears during the current affairs program "Malas Lenguas Noche", shown on La 2, claiming to have been "humiliated" by presenter Jesús Cintora.

“I prefer to eat s***,” said the journalist before leaving the studio during the live broadcast last Saturday, July 11th.

At the time, the debate revolved around statements by Alberto Núñez Feijóo, leader of the Spanish opposition, who classified absenteeism at work as a "cancer". In general terms, Marta Gómez Montero, who defended Feijóo's position, would have been interrupted several times by the other commentators on the panel. "Everything seemed normal, but something was happening that escaped the viewer's eyes," wrote the newspaper El Mundo.

When Jesús Cintora asked the journalist for her opinion on the use of the word "cancer", Marta Gómez Montero reacted:

"I'm not going to answer, Jesús. I'm sorry, but you're not going to humiliate me again. I feel absolutely humiliated. I put up with it for a long time; I put up with it to pay the bills, I put up with it for my children," she said.

Then she couldn't hold back her tears.

"But I can't take it anymore. There is a magnificent book called Nobody Writes to the Colonel. At the end, the woman asks the colonel: 'What are we going to eat?'

Soon after, the journalist left the studio, while Jesús Cintora simply commented: "She knows what she's doing."

The moment became a reason for comment on social media and the presenter himself, on Sunday, made a publication on

Then, José Pablo López, president of RTVE, also reacted on the same social network. "Dear Marta Gómez Montero, apologizing in private is not enough; therefore, I also want to do it publicly, hug you and make myself at your complete disposal for whatever you need. We have known each other for years: You are a magnificent professional and an excellent person. RTVE will continue to be a place where your voice and talent are valued," he wrote.

The situation was also commented on by the president of the Asociación de la Prensa de Madrid, María Rey, who stated, among other messages published on the social network

Who qualifies what happened in #MalaslenguasN as an act of premeditated victimism or does not have a soul or has never suffered a crisis of anxiety. We did not reduce the situation to an ideological battle or a fight between journalists. I respect everyone who suffers.
