Israel shared information with the United States that points to an alleged plan by Iran to assassinate US President Donald Trump, published by The Wall Street Journal.

According to the publication, citing unidentified sources, the data was transmitted by Israel to the US authorities, although no details about the alleged plan or those possibly responsible were disclosed.

The warning comes amid an escalation of tensions between Washington and Tehran, marked by recent military clashes and cross-threats.

Trump acknowledged on Wednesday, during the NATO summit in Ankara, that he continues to be the target of potential Iranian attacks and stated that there are people in Iran who seek to make attempts on his life.

The President linked these threats to the death of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani in 2020, a US operation ordered during his first term.

US authorities had previously flagged Iranian threats against Trump linked to the attack that killed Soleimani, a central figure in the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, shot down by a US drone in Baghdad.

In 2024, the Department of Justice accused a Pakistani citizen of trying to recruit people for an assassination plot against the then Republican candidate, an accusation that Tehran denied.

The new intelligence warning comes at one of the moments of greatest recent tension between the two countries, after Washington launched new attacks against Iranian targets, accusing Tehran of threatening commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran retaliated with attacks on US facilities in the region.

Trump declared the truce reached three weeks earlier with the signing of a peace understanding framework to be ended.

The report on the alleged plot adds to the security concerns surrounding the US President, who has reiterated that Iran represents a direct threat.

So far, neither the White House nor Iranian authorities have publicly confirmed the details of the alleged assassination plan revealed by Israeli intelligence to the American newspaper.
