A truck with logos from one of Finland's largest supermarket chains drew attention during the funeral of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, leading the company to investigate how the vehicle ended up in the Middle East. Images captured by Reuters news agency on Wednesday (8) show Khamenei's coffin being removed from a refrigerated truck bearing the K-Group brand during the funeral procession's passage through Karbala, in Iraq. According to Finland's public broadcaster Yle, the vehicle's appearance surprised Kesko, owner of the K-Group brand. The company stated it has no connection to the truck and is trying to find out how it left Europe and reached Iraq. Yle located an ad posted in June in a buy-and-sell group on Facebook in Iraq offering an identical truck, still with K-Group stickers. The man responsible for the ad told the broadcaster that he only intermediated the vehicle's sale and that, according to what he was informed, the buyer was the Iraqi Army. He did not respond to other questions. Kesko stated that it does not have its own fleet and that deliveries are made by partner companies. According to the retailer, one hypothesis is that a former service provider sold the truck without removing the brand stickers, which would violate contracts signed with the network. "We have absolutely no connection with this vehicle," the company told Yle. Kesko described the episode as "extremely regrettable" and said it continues trying to trace the truck's journey to Iraq. The images were recorded during a stage of Khamenei's funeral procession in Karbala. According to Reuters, the Iranian leader's body was transported in the truck before the coffin was carried by the crowd.
