INSS reveals beneficiaries who need to take Proof of Life; look

Only policyholders who are officially notified need to carry out the procedure within the specified period. The notice can be sent via WhatsApp via the official profile of the Government of Brazil. The bank responsible for paying the benefit can also inform the need for regularization via the application or bank statement.
Therefore, anyone who has not received any notification does not need to look for an INSS agency just to provide proof of life.
Who needs to take proof of life?
The procedure is carried out, primarily, automatically. To confirm that the beneficiary continues in civil activity, the INSS uses information available on different government bases.
Among the records used are services carried out in public bodies, vaccinations, issuance of documents, voting, medical consultations in the public network and other interactions provided for by the rules.
When not enough records are found, the beneficiary becomes part of the group that needs to carry out the verification manually. In this situation, the government sends an official communication, with the aim of avoiding future blocking of the benefit.
How to regularize?
After receiving the notification, the insured can provide proof of life at the bank branch where they receive the benefit, presenting an official document with a photo.
In some cases, it is also possible to carry out the procedure through the app or the Meu INSS website, using facial biometrics linked to the Gov.br account. The INSS emphasizes that it is not necessary to go to an agency within the local authority exclusively for this purpose.
The deadline for regularization is 60 days after receipt of the notification.
How to check the situation?
The beneficiary can check whether the proof of life has already been automatically registered using the “Prova de Vida” service, available on the Meu INSS application or portal. When the situation is normal, the system informs the date of the last confirmation.
It is also possible to seek information through Central 135, which operates from Monday to Saturday.
Beware of scams
The INSS warns that it does not make calls or home visits to request proof of life. Messages that ask for passwords, bank details, transfers or verification codes should be ignored.
The guideline is to only use official channels. Thus, proof of life remains automatic for the majority of policyholders, while only those who receive official communication need to provide proof in person or through available digital means.
