ISABELA FAGGIANISÃO PAULO, SP (UOL/FOLHAPRESS) - Cauã Reymond's name is one of the highest rated in the world of television today. In the last five years, he has been the protagonist of three 9pm soap operas and, now, he has decided to explore another facet of the small screen universe as the creator of 'Jogada de Risco', a new Globoplay series that reveals the behind-the-scenes of football. He also made his directorial debut for some scenes in the project.

The heartthrob also plays Maurício, a former player who retired early due to injuries and the poor management of his career by his father and then businessman, Valdemar (Marcos Frota).

He commented, at a press conference at which Folha de S.Paulo was present, about the challenge of leaving the creator's perspective and connecting with the character from an acting point of view:

"It was difficult. I was finishing 'Vale Tudo' and I had three weeks to say goodbye to César and get to know Maurício in a different way and not just as a creator, in the script room. I was very lucky because Bruno [Safadi, director] embraced the series and brought a cinematographic language together with the director of photography. It was a process that I wanted to have participated in but I needed to say goodbye to a character that I was having great pleasure in playing", he said.

Cauã also shared that, during the six years he dedicated himself to the project, he did intense research into the world of football. He spoke to players, agents, public relations and managers, approaching both very successful professionals and those who were unable to move up in their careers.

Despite having heard all these stories, Cauã made it clear that, even though it is close to the reality of the football world, the series is not based on any specific event.

"The series is not inspired by real events but is inspired by reality. I asked them to tell me 'the miracle, but not the name of the saint'. I wanted to understand how things unfolded and happened", he explained.

Lucas Paraizo, the project's text supervisor, added, stating that the intense research was essential for them to have the ability to approach the subject and that not being inspired by a real football personality gave them the freedom they were looking for to tell the story.

Director Bruno Safadi highlighted that 'Jogada de Risco' is not just about behind the scenes of the sport, but also addresses very relevant topics both in the world of football and in society in general, such as ethics, mental health, homosexuality in a sexist environment and the issue of betting shops.

The project's producers were also concerned about including strong female characters in the story, with the desire to address the women's side in this environment, which is still very linked to the male universe and permeated by machismo.

"Despite being minorities in the series, women are not victims, they participate in this universe of questionable morals", says Maria Bopp, who plays sports journalist Regiane.

Bruna Griphao, who is also part of the cast, pointed out that, for her, it was important to see that all the women portrayed were in a position of power. Mariana Sena, interpreter of lawyer Cris, highlighted that the female characters drive the plot in a powerful way.

'Jogada de Risco' debuts on Globoplay on July 23, four days after the World Cup final, played between Spain and Argentina. The first season will be available with the release of two episodes per week, on Thursdays.

When asked about the proximity of the date, Cauã confessed that the series had been designed to be released in 2022, but the delay gave them the opportunity to delve deeper into the story.

"We thought of the series for the last World Cup. But during this time, there was a greater process of maturation in the development of the story. I always wanted to launch close to a World Cup and luckily it worked out," he said.
