Flamengo confirms injury to Luiz Araújo and updates situations for Léo Ortiz and Paquetá

Flamengo confirmed this Sunday (19) the injury to the left knee of striker Luiz Araújo, after suffering a tackle during the friendly against Olimpia in the middle of the week. In a statement, the club also informed that an imaging exam was carried out and that there is no need for surgical intervention.

In addition to the striker's situation, the team released updates on the status of defender Léo Ortiz and midfielder Lucas Paquetá. The defender is already carrying out work on the field with physiotherapy and physical preparation. He has been out of action since May, when he suffered a muscle injury to his right thigh against Coritiba, in the Brazilian Championship.

The midfielder was with the Brazilian team at the World Cup and suffered an injury to his left thigh against Japan, in the round of 16 phase. The athlete continues in the recovery process and performs muscle strengthening exercises. Flamengo did not set a date for the player's return.

The team led by Leonardo Jardim officially returns to the pitch next Wednesday (22), against Chapecoense, for the Brazilian Championship. During the interseason, the club faced four opponents in friendly matches: a draw against River Plate-ARG, and victories over Lausanne-Sport-SUI, Benfica-POR and Olímpia-PAR.

For the second semester, the Rio de Janeiro team is committed to the round of 16 of the Libertadores against Cruzeiro and the pursuit of leader Palmeiras in the national championship. Remembering that the team was eliminated in the Copa do Brasil by Vitória, in the fifth phase of the competition.
