The office should be open until Saturday (8). According to the CGE (Climate Emergency Management Center), in addition to the strong winds, the bomb cyclone - characterized by intense winds and approaching the continent - is expected to bring moderate rains on Friday (7) and Saturday.
The gusts should start this Thursday, with an orange alert forecast. Winds are expected to be up to 60 km/h.
On Friday and Saturday, a red alert is expected with gusts that can reach 100 km/h, mainly on the coast of São Paulo, the eastern part of the state and mountain regions.
On Sunday (9), the forecast is for yellow alert, with the winds gradually moving towards Rio de Janeiro.
Until Sunday, the forecast is for 40 mm of rain, especially on the south coast and in Vale do Ribeira, in the south and in the Sorocaba region.
Gusts of wind, according to Civil Defense, can cause falling trees, roofing, power interruptions, falling signs, collapsing structures, traffic difficulties, impacts at airports and sea disturbances.
Rain, in turn, can cause flooding, flash floods, landslides and overflowing streams.
The wind can also intensify fires, especially on Saturday. Civil Defense stated that it will monitor and issue alerts for regions with the highest risk of outbreaks, with emphasis on the northern range, which comprises the cities on the border with Minas Gerais and the cities in the region of São José do Rio Preto and Araçatuba.
