Before and after of the princesses of Spain goes viral after the World Cup

The celebration of Spain's second world title gained a symbolic moment with the participation of Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía. The daughters of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia came down to the lawn after the 2026 World Cup final and posed with the trophy won by the team.

Sofía, 19 years old, raised the cup, while Leonor, 20, appeared to the side applauding. The two wore white and red pieces, in reference to the colors of the Spanish team.

The record provoked comparisons with a photograph taken after the country's first world title, in 2010. At that time, Leonor was 4 years old and Sofía, 3. The royal family received the champions in the palace, and the current heir to the throne even hugged the trophy while it was held by Iker Casillas, then captain of the team.

Sixteen years later, the princesses again accompanied a conquest of Spain, this time as adults and directly at the decision stage. Felipe VI also participated in the ceremony on the field and presented the cup to the players.

The royal family watched the final in a box reserved for authorities. Among the guests were the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and the President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, who participated in the presentation of medals to the champions.
