This is 350 ml still mineral water in a can - which should not be consumed. The manufacturer himself found the presence of bacteria in the product.
The manufacturer of Mamba Water, the company HNK BR Indústria de Bebidas, reported having voluntarily recalled products from batches 13 and 14, which were suspended.
According to Anvisa, the batches were manufactured on April 3 and 4, 2026, with expiration dates of one year. Products from both batches cannot be sold, distributed or used.
In a statement, the manufacturer of Mamba Water stated that the bacteria was found during routine analyzes and treated the situation as a one-off. "There is no record of complaints or any impact on the health of consumers in the service channels, nor any impact on other brand products," he said.
According to the company, although there are no records of adverse health events associated with these batches, "in specific cases, their consumption may eventually pose a health risk. In healthy people, the risk is low, with no major health complications."
The manufacturer explained that the product is packaged by another, duly authorized company. "The applicable corrective measures have already been adopted with the product supplier", he stated. "To date, approximately 82% of the volume of the lots involved has already been preventively blocked, remaining out of commercial circulation," he stated.
For consumers who want a refund for the purchased product, the brand advised them to contact the Consumer Service (SAC) by email [email protected] or by phone 0800 888 1090, from Monday to Saturday, from 9am to 9pm.
How does the bacteria act?
Pseudomonas aeruginosa lives in water, soil and damp surfaces. According to experts interviewed by Estadão, the bacteria is considered not very aggressive for most people.
In a recent column in Pulsa, doctor Luís Fernando Correia explained that the microorganism threatens specific populations, such as patients with cystic fibrosis, burns, cancer patients, transplant recipients, immunosuppressed patients, newborns, frail elderly people, people with catheters and individuals who are on mechanical ventilation. "It is an opportunistic bacteria, with natural resistance to several antibiotics", he commented.
In vulnerable groups, Luís Fernando Correia explains that Pseudomonas aeruginosa can cause severe hospital-acquired pneumonia, bloodstream infections, sepsis and even eye infections.
