The initiative occurs at a time of strong demand and shortage of qualified professionals in the semiconductor industry. Other industry giants, such as Samsung Electronics, TSMC and SK Hynix, have also offered additional compensation to attract and retain workers. The most valuable company in Europe by market value, ASML announced this month net profit of €2.92 billion. The company also reported that its main line of lithography equipment, used to print circuits on chips, is practically exhausted by 2027. ASML employs around 44,500 people worldwide. More than half work in the Netherlands, while approximately 8,500 are in the United States.
