Bragança Paulista's public transport recorded 2,550,484 boardings between January and July 2026. The number represents an increase of 272,032 boardings compared to the same period in 2025, when 2,278,452 were recorded. The 11.9% growth occurs during the expansion of the Zero Tariff Program, which offers free travel outside peak hours for users of the Bragantino Cidadão Card. The third phase of the program came into effect on April 5, 2026. Since then, those who have the card can use municipal buses free of charge during the periods covered by the benefit. What are the Zero Fare opening hours? Free passage is available at the following times: From 4am to 6:29am; From 8:31 am to 4:29 pm; From 7:01 pm to 2 am. At busy times, the fare remains unchanged. To access the free service, the user must present the Bragantino Citizen Card at the time of boarding. The tariff reduction was implemented gradually. In the first stage, the amount charged outside of peak hours went from R$4.50 to R$2.50. In January 2026, it was reduced to R$1. Since April, the ticket has been completely free during these periods. More than 72% of trips occurred during off-peak hours. Between January and July 2026, 1,842,655 off-peak departures were recorded. The volume corresponds to approximately 72% of all trips made on municipal public transport during the period. May presented the highest monthly result since the beginning of the free service. That month, almost 289 thousand boardings were made during the times covered by the Zero Tariff. The data indicates that some users began to organize their journeys to take advantage of free periods, using public transport to access commerce, public services, schools, leisure activities and job opportunities. Use of the Citizen Card grows by more than 390% The use of the Bragantino Citizen Card also increased after the expansion of the program. In the first seven months of 2025, 155,040 shipments using this modality were recorded. In the same period of 2026, the number reached 760,142, growth of more than 390%. At the same time, there was a reduction in payments made in cash. The total fell from 641,474 boardings, between January and July 2025, to 328,701 in the same period of 2026. The decrease was approximately 49% and demonstrates the advancement in the use of electronic cards and tariff benefits available in the municipality. Public transport serves urban and rural areas The Bragança Paulista municipal public transport system currently operates with 29 lines, 19 urban and 10 rural. The fleet consists of 64 buses, of which 58 run daily. On average, 894 departures are made per day, considering round trips. The vehicles have an average age of 3.4 years and serve different neighborhoods and regions of the city. The Zero Tariff can be used by workers, students, elderly people, people with disabilities and other users who have the Bragantino Citizen Card.
