Teams from the Infectious Diseases Outpatient Clinic carried out practical and educational actions with those attending the Elderly Community Center in Tupã City Hall of Tupã/Disclosure The Yellow July campaign, promoted by the Municipal Health Department in partnership with the Rotary Clubs of Tupã, carried out two important actions at the Elderly Community Center (CCI), on the 3rd and 8th of July, providing information, prevention and health services aimed at combating viral hepatitis. The program began on July 3, when professionals from the Infectious Diseases Outpatient Clinic and Epidemiological Surveillance promoted an educational activity with CCI visitors. During the meeting, the main signs and symptoms of viral hepatitis, forms of transmission, prevention measures, the importance of vaccination and carrying out rapid tests for early diagnosis of the disease were discussed. Nurse Anaille Virgínia Genovez Michelotti Miranda, responsible for the Infectious Diseases Outpatient Clinic, highlighted that providing information to the population is one of the main strategies for combating viral hepatitis. "The majority of viral hepatitis progresses silently, without presenting symptoms in the initial stages. Therefore, raising awareness among the population about the importance of prevention and testing is essential. Early diagnosis allows treatment to be started at the appropriate time, reduces complications and contributes to interrupting the transmission of the disease", he highlighted. Continuing with the program, this Wednesday (8), the teams returned to the Elderly Community Center to offer rapid tests for viral hepatitis and update participants' vaccination records, expanding access to prevention services. Nurse Juliana Yuri explained that the activities were planned in two stages to ensure that the elderly received guidance first and, subsequently, had access to prevention services. "In the first action, we provided information on signs and symptoms, means of transmission and forms of prevention. Today (8), we are carrying out the practical stage of the campaign, offering rapid tests and updating the vaccination of elderly people who were overdue for a dose", she explained. The municipal secretary of Health, Rosângela Urel, highlighted that initiatives like this bring health services closer to the population and strengthen prevention. According to her, the objective is to facilitate the population's access to prevention and diagnostic services, taking actions to different areas of the municipality. The Yellow July campaign continues throughout the month, offering free rapid tests for viral hepatitis in 14 Health Units in Tupã. The population can also update their vaccination records and receive guidance on prevention and early diagnosis, strengthening health care throughout the year.
