Works resume on av. Jerônimo Câmara The asphalt resurfacing work on Avenida Jerônimo Câmara, in Natal (RN), entered a new phase from 8 am this Monday (13). With the advancement of services, traffic in the area underwent changes and began to be concentrated in just one of the four lanes of the road: the one on the right, made of concrete and exclusively for public transport. The remaining lanes were occupied by work teams. The interventions take place on the stretch between Jaguarari and Potiguares avenues. The current stage involves milling the old pavement and leveling the base in places without asphalt. The avenue also hosts important public services, such as the Food Supply Center and Caic Lagoa Nova, in addition to Conab itself. To avoid traffic retention and organize the flow, agents from the Urban Mobility Secretariat (STTU) are on site. The department installed cones at the intersections of Jerônimo Câmara, Avenida Jaguarari and Rua Guamoré. The secretariat advises drivers to plan their journeys, use alternative routes and pay extra attention to signage. Resurfacing work began on July 2nd. The work, however, has been dragging on since the 2014 World Cup, when it should have been ready as a legacy of the World Cup for the city's urban mobility. Initial services began in 2013, accumulating a 13-year wait. According to Natal City Hall, the work was resumed with its own resources. According to the municipality's Infrastructure Secretariat, R$4.3 million was invested in the site. The services are expected to be completed in 120 days, with closures following the progress of the construction site. Residents of the region were waiting for work to resume and, even with the temporary disruption, they hope to see the road completed.
