According to statistics from the Electoral Court, the number of female voters increased from 556,547, in 2022, to 601,991, in 2026, an increase of 8.1% in the period. In Palmas, women represent 53% of the electorate: there are 116,420 voters out of a total of 218,504 people eligible to vote. The highest proportion among the main electoral colleges is recorded in Araguaína and Gurupi, where women represent 54% of the electorate. In the last general elections, only four women were elected to the 35 positions being contested in Tocantins. According to TRE-TO, one of the measures adopted to try to reverse this scenario is the +Mulher +Democracia program, which promotes conversation circles about the importance of female representation and encouraging new candidacies. Furthermore, electoral legislation establishes a gender quota, determining that each gender represents between 30% and 70% of candidacies registered by parties or federations. Age group and optional vote According to the Electoral Court survey, the largest group of female voters is made up of young adults between 25 and 29 years old, totaling 62,952 people. Next, the groups from 40 to 44 years old (62,147) and from 30 to 34 years old (61,675) appear. With regard to optional voting, the court highlights that women are the majority among adolescents aged 16 and 17 (51.66%).
