Images from security cameras from nearby businesses helped in the investigation. According to police, the recordings show a man holding Marizete by the neck before leaving the body on the sidewalk. During the search, the police also found a pink blouse with blood and feces stains on the same street where the crime took place. The clothing was seized and will be analyzed by forensics. The suspect did not give information about the case during his testimony. He was taken to the police station and remains in custody.
