Violence against women Jainni Victória A 35-year-old woman reported having been drugged and raped by her own partner in Jupiá, a city of 2,500 inhabitants in the west of Santa Catarina. The 27-year-old suspect was arrested, according to the Civil Police. He was the one who called the ambulance after the crime. According to the Civil Police, due to the severity of the injuries, the victim had to undergo emergency surgery, with the removal of the uterus and placement of a colostomy bag. The temporary arrest was made last Saturday (4). "The victim claimed to have been induced to drowsiness by the involuntary ingestion of medication administered by the suspect in the alcoholic drink he drank", declared delegate José Danezi Neto, responsible for the case. The couple lived in a stable relationship, in the same house, and had been in a relationship for around two years. The police began investigating the case after receiving medical attention. The woman, despite her serious injuries, was discharged from hospital and "is safe" this Friday (10), according to the police chief. The investigation continues to conclude the police inquiry.
