UP launches Arinalda Medeiros as a candidate for the government of Rio Grande do Norte

Popular Unit will contest this year's elections in Rio Grande do Norte without a coalition. Convention calendar Conventions are events in which party members meet to choose candidates in elections. The deadline for holding the meetings is August 5th. After the conventions, parties and federations have until August 15 to register candidates with the Electoral Court. The election campaign officially begins the following day. In this year's elections, on October 4, voters will choose: President of the Republic; governor; two senators per state; federal deputies; state deputies. Arinalda Medeiros's trajectory Arinalda Medeiros is 46 years old, a black woman, mother, domestic worker and lives in Natal. He lives in an urban occupation and is running for government of Rio Grande do Norte for the first time. She works in the Movimento de Luta nos Bairros, Vilas e Favelas (MLB), where she participates in actions aimed at the fight for housing and denouncing the housing deficit in the state. It also develops activities linked to combating violence against women and police violence, issues that are part of its activities in social movements. According to the Popular Unit, the candidacy was built on Arinalda's trajectory of activism and the defense of public policies aimed at the low-income population, such as the end of the 6x1 scale and a 100% increase in the minimum wage.
