Confúcio Moura Reproduction/Federal Senate Senator Confúcio Moura (MDB) announced this Friday (31) that he has given up running for re-election to the Senate in this year's elections in Rondônia. The statement was made via social media, five days after the MDB confirmed his candidacy during the party's state convention. In the publication, Confucius stated that the decision was taken after "deep, serene and responsible reflection". According to him, changes in the political and party scenario altered the conditions under which the candidacy had been constructed. "However, the political and partisan events that have occurred in recent days have profoundly modified the conditions on which this candidacy had been built," he wrote. The senator also thanked his supporters and said he will continue to serve until the end. "I will continue to exercise my mandate until the last day with the same responsibility and dedication. My decision not to run for re-election does not diminish, in any way, my commitment to Rondônia", he stated. Confúcio Moura is a doctor and has been at MDB since the beginning of his political career. He was a federal deputy for three terms, mayor of Ariquemes for two terms, governor of Rondônia for two terms and currently holds the position of senator.
