Maricá Civil Defense began a sweep of the lagoon and found the second body shortly afterwards. According to preliminary reports from family members, the two men had gone fishing in the early hours of the morning. The suspicion is that one of them fell into the water and the other entered the lagoon to try to save him. The two ended up drowning. The bodies were sent to the Legal Medical Institute (IML), and the circumstances of the case will be investigated by the authorities.
