With a narrative that prioritizes atmosphere, the film uses silence and confinement as tools to translate the anguish of Cecília (Rita Matiusso), the protagonist who lives separated from the world. The title of the work carries an extra layer with the meaning of a play on words, spelled in publicity pieces as 'SUS/PIROU'. It is a tribute to the Unified Health System (SUS), which, according to the director, is a symbol of resistance during the pandemic period in which the plot takes place. ? The location chosen was the historic Fazenda Bom Retiro, in Oliveira, a century-old property where scientist Carlos Chagas (1879-1934) was born. "I was looking for an environment that conveyed the feeling of immensity and profound loneliness. The rustic aesthetic and grandeur of the farm were fundamental in confusing the viewer about the time of the narrative, mixing past and present", explains the filmmaker. The production, which lasted just over six months, was an exercise in technical and emotional collaboration. The process involved around 15 technical visits to the property before filming in January, culminating in a thorough finalization in May. Caring for mental health issues also required a lot of professional rigor. Alisson included a psychologist on the team to offer technical consultancy and emotional support to the cast, ensuring that the construction of the character was treated with seriousness and humanity. This support was crucial, especially given the personal challenges faced by the protagonist during filming. The entire process required extra sensitivity to balance reality and fiction. The ending of the work, however, remains suspenseful. Anyone who gets carried away by the plot is surprised in the final moments, when the film reveals its true nature.
