The location chosen was the historic Fazenda Bom Retiro, in Oliveira, a century-old property where scientist Carlos Chagas (1879-1934) was born. "I was looking for an environment that conveyed the feeling of immensity and profound loneliness. The rustic aesthetic and grandeur of the farm were fundamental in confusing the viewer about the time of the narrative, mixing past and present", explains the filmmaker. This support was crucial, especially given the personal challenges faced by the protagonist during filming. The entire process required extra sensitivity to balance reality and fiction.
