By early afternoon, the trial was underway. At around 2 pm, the jury was interrogating the defendant. The expectation is that, after this stage, debates will take place between the prosecution and defense, before the jurors vote and the sentence. The session is expected to end around 8pm. ? The 2-year-old boy was taken to the city's Regional Hospital with several injuries to his body. The child did not survive his injuries and died. As there were signs of violence, hospital employees called the Civil Police. Initially, the case was registered as a suspicious death resulting from an alleged domestic accident, but it began to be investigated. According to the Specialized Criminal Investigations Police Station (Deic), the police identified discrepancies in the stepfather's testimony, who was with the child at the time of the alleged accident and became the main suspect. The medical report indicated that the boy died as a result of injuries and head trauma. The examination also identified signs of torture, according to the Civil Police. During the investigation, police seized the child's clothes with blood stains. The stepfather was arrested on May 31, 2025, more than three months after the boy's death. He was located in Pindamonhangaba during a police raid. There was already a preventive arrest warrant issued against him by the courts for the murder of the child.
