He was admitted to a public hospital in the city and died on June 30. The disease was confirmed by a report from the Adolfo Lutz Institute. Until the last update, Americana recorded 22 notifications of spotted fever. Of this total, 16 cases were discarded, five are awaiting test results and one death was confirmed. There are no other suspicious deaths. Prevention The Department of Health advises the population to avoid places at risk for the presence of the star tick, which transmits the disease. Warning areas include banks of rivers, streams, lagoons and the surroundings of the Salto Grande Dam. If it is necessary to access these areas, residents must take specific precautions to avoid being bitten.
