Patrick entered the prison system in December 2025. Patrick's defense, represented by lawyers Dr. Fhernanda Tavares and Dr. Laura Schefer, informed that they will appeal the decision. The other person involved in the crime, João Paulo Inácio Dazani, had already been tried and convicted in September 2024. He received the same sentence, for the same crimes. Remember the crime According to the complaint presented by the Public Ministry of Minas Gerais, in the early hours of October 17, 2022, Diego Antônio Santos Lopes was killed with beatings and stones in the Santa Efigênia neighborhood. João Paulo Inácio Dazini and Patrick Experidião da Silva Clemente were accused and convicted of the crime. According to investigations, Diego approached those involved and asked if they had cocaine to sell, which started an argument. The men sent Diego to look for drug dealers in the region and the fight only stopped after the intervention of the victim's cousin. Shortly afterwards, Diego was asked to go to a party. Believing that the disagreement had already been resolved, the victim accepted the invitation and left the bar with the men. On the way, near the intersection of Clóvis Jaguaribe dos Santos and Délcio Fortini streets, they began attacking Diego with pieces of masonry and bricks they found on the street. Even after falling to the ground, Diego continued to be beaten and died at the scene due to severe head trauma. What Patrick's defense says: "Externalizes his feelings about the situation that occurred with the victim Diego, however, he points out that the Jury Court must be guided by the technical evidence in the case. Therefore, it is observed that the evidence is insufficient to rule out the presumption of innocence. Furthermore, it is plausible that at all times the defense sought to demonstrate how the State is inefficient in its policies and leaves at the mercy of people who need more care. Thus, it is plausible and well-known that the Theory of Hearsay, in legal terms, “hearsay testimony” is not enough to support a conviction. We are facing a serious case of judicial error and we trust in the reform of the decision in the second instance, a decision clearly contrary to the evidence in the case and the presence of nullities during the plenary session. Finally, we point out that all the defense's pejoration was supported by the technical evidence in the records and the most recent jurisprudence used by the Colendo Superior Courts of Justice."
