The Municipality of São Sebastião, through the Sports Secretariat (Seesp), released attendance data for the Municipal Sports Schools for the first half of 2026. Throughout the period, 3,312 students participated in the weekly activities offered free of charge, from the South Coast to the North Coast of the municipality. Currently, Seesp provides a list of sports modalities with 25 activities, covering different audiences and age groups, distributed across the various municipal multi-sport facilities. The initiative aims to encourage sports, promote quality of life and contribute to the physical, social and educational development of children, young people, adults and the elderly. One of the main purposes of the program is to expand the inclusion and decentralization of sport in the municipality, through the diversified offer of sports in different regions of the city. Activities range from water sports to board games. Among the modalities offered are checkers, chess, walking and mobility, Hawaiian canoe, taekwondo, gymnastics, beach tennis, futsal, swimming, basketball, canoeing, field football, adapted water sports, water aerobics, athletics, cycling, volleyball, table tennis, tennis, sailing, judo, stretching, open water and functional. The purpose of the schools is to encourage sports, promote quality of life and contribute to the physical, social and educational development of children, young people, adults and the elderly. The program also works to identify new talents, who in the future can join training teams and represent the municipality in official competitions. The schools also stand out for their commitment to accessibility and diversity, offering specific classes for People with Disabilities (PWD) and older adults. New registration system in 2026 With the aim of facilitating the population's access to sports services, the São Sebastião City Council, through Seesp, launched, at the beginning of 2026, the Placarsoft platform of the São Sebastião Sports Department, intended for registration and management of the municipality's sports activities. The tool seeks to increase transparency, promote resource savings and modernize public services. Access to the system can be done via the link. As registrations began at the beginning of the year, there are currently only vacancies in the walking classes at the Family Health Unit (USF) in Barra do Una and Boraceia, futsal training in Barequeçaba and swimming for beginners at the Educational Support Center (CAE) in Pontal da Cruz. The system also organizes the waiting lines for each modality, making the registration process more transparent and objective. 'São Sebastião Desportivo' Program With the implementation of the 'São Sebastião Desportivo' program, through Seesp Management Contract nº 01/2025, the City of São Sebastião will expand the offer of sporting activities in the municipality. The municipal management, in partnership with the Center for Development and Improvement of Sports (CDAD), plans to hire new teachers and instructors, in addition to opening almost 2,000 new vacancies in municipal schools, reinforcing the work already carried out by permanent teachers from the Sports Department and expanding service to the population, with special attention to the North and South regions of São Sebastião.
