According to a biologist interviewed by g1, the snakes were in a mating ritual. The video was recorded by Lucas Gabriel, who said he was scared to find so many animals gathered in the same place. "I was scared, you know, because I had never seen a snake like that. None like that, alone, and when I saw it, it was this bunch of snakes there", said Lucas. According to biologist Flávio Terassini, the images show a female surrounded by around five to seven males during the reproduction period. In this ritual, the female releases pheromones to attract males. “After copulation, which can last up to 72 hours, the female will become pregnant and for a few months she will be pregnant and can give birth to up to 80 puppies live.” The anaconda is considered the heaviest snake in the world. Despite not being venomous, it kills prey by constriction, wrapping its body around the animal until it suffocates. "In the video, we can see the anaconda, which is the heaviest snake on the planet, can easily reach six meters in length and weigh more than 200 kilos. It is one of the largest snakes on planet Earth and very abundant here in the Brazilian Amazon", explained Terassini. The biologist warns that, during mating, snakes can become more aggressive and attack if they feel threatened.
