Taubaté Civil Police Sectional Station (SP) Laurene Santos/TV Vanguarda A 50-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of stabbing another 38-year-old inmate to death in a rehabilitation clinic in Taubaté, on Sunday night (19). The crime happened around 9pm, in the Una neighborhood. According to the incident report, military police officers were called to respond to an incident of aggression with a sharp weapon and, upon arriving at the scene, they were informed by employees and inmates that two patients had argued for a reason considered futile, related to the clinic's food. The witnesses told the police that, during the argument, the suspect took a knife from the institution's kitchen and hit the victim in the side of the body. ? According to the Civil Police, the stabbing hit an area close to Luciano Costa Alves' heart.

After the crime, the suspect left the clinic and was found shortly afterwards walking through the Una neighborhood. He was approached and arrested. It is stated in the police report that, in testimony, the man confessed to stabbing the victim and stated that the argument began because another inmate wanted to leave the clinic to eat on the street. The suspect said that the victim started to confront him and that, before being attacked, he went to the kitchen, grabbed a knife and struck him. He claimed he had no intention of killing. According to the Civil Police, the man stated that he had previously been arrested for robbery and also responded for attempted murder with a knife. A witness, who is also an intern at the clinic, confirmed to the police that he witnessed the argument and the moment the victim was stabbed. The knife used in the crime was seized for forensic examination. As the clinic does not have security cameras, the case will be investigated based on the statements and other evidence gathered. The suspect was charged with qualified homicide for futile reasons. The Civil Police represented the conversion of the arrest in flagrante delicto into preventive detention, so that he would remain in prison throughout the investigation of the case. g1 tries to locate the prisoner's defense.
