Bridge between Cerro Branco and Candelária blocked by water level in RS The intense rain that hit Rio Grande do Sul this Tuesday (21) caused flooding in several cities and blocked roads. At least 52 municipalities recorded damage. A bridge between Cerro Branco and Candelária was blocked due to rising water levels. A survey by Climatempo up to 5pm points to the highest volumes in: Porto Lucena (172 mm); Paraí (165 mm); André da Rocha (153 mm); Marau (151 mm); Vanini (150 mm). In addition to the flooding recorded this afternoon, the state was already accounting for damage associated with the storms of the last few days. According to Civil Defense, municipalities reported the roofing of homes, falling trees, interruptions in the supply of electricity, road blockages and damage to public buildings and schools. Rio Pardinho Advance of the Rio Pardinho in RS Disclosure/Civil Defense The Rio Pardinho reached 7.3 meters on the afternoon of this Tuesday (21) and reached the flood level, leading the City of Santa Cruz do Sul to reinforce emergency response actions. The municipal secretary of Security and Traffic and coordinator of Civil Defense, Reginaldo Martins Brito de Campos, warned of the rapid rise in the river level, driven by the large volume of water that descends from Sinimbu. According to him, there is a possibility that the water will soon reach Rua Irmão Emílio, in Bairro Várzea. Given the scenario, Civil Defense activated the warning sirens in Bairro Navegantes to advise residents about the need to evacuate. Recognition of emergency situation Seven municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul had an emergency situation recognized by the federal government due to the damage caused by heavy rains recorded in May and the beginning of July this year. The measure was made official through an ordinance published in the Official Gazette of the Union on Monday (20).
