The data was reported this Monday (13) by the Court of Justice of the State of São Paulo (TJ-SP). According to the survey, 1,408 protective measures were granted from January to June this year, an average of seven per day. The total is greater than the 1,158 registered in the first six months of 2025. Urgent protective measures are legal tools provided for by the Maria da Penha Law that aim to guarantee the physical, psychological, sexual, property and moral safety of women victims of domestic violence. They may include removing the aggressor from the residence, prohibiting contact or approach and suspending weapons possession. g1 contacted the Public Security Secretariat of the State of São Paulo to comment on the increase, but had no response until the last update of this article. Aggression Protective measures granted in Campinas A woman who did not want to identify herself told EPTV, a TV Globo affiliate, that she was physically and verbally attacked by her ex-husband. The man allegedly tried to coerce the victim into quitting her job and having her child aborted. He then threatened to take custody of his son. "If you don't have a lawyer to guide you, you'll give in to everything because of the fear of losing your child. So, things escalate, escalate and when you see it, it's already unsustainable", he reported. The woman also suffered psychological consequences due to the abusive relationship. This led her to file a request for a protective measure, which was granted by the courts. "It protected me a lot emotionally, psychologically and physically too, right? My health improved after the protective measure. My quality of life improved. You remove the danger factor, the stress from your life", he pondered. Protection network Ceamo welcomes women who are victims of domestic violence Campinas City Hall The protective measure is the main legal tool for protecting victims of domestic violence. However, many women need support or guidance to face legal issues or even to stay away from aggressors. The Campinas Women's Reference and Support Center (Ceamo) is one of the entities that provides assistance to victims, including cases referred by the Public Defender's Office of the State of São Paulo or in which the victims themselves seek out the institution. According to the coordinator of combating violence, Graziela Bispo, reception is important due to the condition in which some women are treated. "Many women arrive very emotionally shaken, because the violence has been occurring for a long time. Some women are unable to identify what violence they are suffering. Hence, the importance of prevention," he said. "So, when we give lectures, when we talk to these women, when we go out in the neighborhoods, we always explain what the violence is and what this violence is", he added. Ceamo also provides guidance on how to access the panic button and constantly monitors victims through applications. "When this woman undergoes her first consultation with the psychosocial team, she will be monitored according to the violence she is suffering. Then, a risk assessment is carried out and this woman is monitored via WhatsApp, asking her if everything is ok, how her children are, if the perpetrator of the violence is respecting the protective measure", he explained. Whenever possible, look for a Specialized Women's Assistance Police Station (DEAM) or Women's Defense Police Station (DDM); Electronic Police Station: in many states, it is possible to register the incident and request the protective measure without leaving home, through the Civil Police online platform; Justice bodies: it is possible to request protection directly from the Public Prosecutor's Office (MP) or the state Public Defender's Office. Protection Applications: some states provide specific security applications through which it is possible to access support networks and help channels. Emergencies: if violence is occurring or there is an imminent risk of aggression, call the Military Police immediately on 190. The police chief has up to 48 hours to forward the request to the Court, which also has 48 hours to analyze and grant the measure.
