Procon closes gym in Cabo Frio for operating without water supply

During the inspection carried out in the early afternoon of this Friday, the agents personally verified the absence of water in the unit, a situation that, according to the agency, had persisted since the previous night. Also according to Procon, the lack of supply prevents adequate cleaning of bathrooms and changing rooms, in addition to making it difficult for students to hydrate during physical activities. The agency also reported having received reports from consumers that, on previous occasions, the gym had been supplied by tanker trucks without certification from the Prolagos concessionaire and without presenting a water potability report. There were also complaints about the quality of the water supplied, described as yellowish in taps and drinking fountains. According to Procon, the situation may constitute a violation of provisions of the Consumer Protection Code, including article 8, which deals with the offering of products and services that do not present risks to the health and safety of consumers. The gym will remain closed until the water supply is restored. The establishment will also have a period of ten days to present an administrative defense and prove that it received a regular supply of water from Prolagos or from a water truck certified by the concessionaire in the last 60 days. Otherwise, new sanctions may be applied. In a note released by the municipality, the general coordinator of Procon Cabo Frio, Mônica Bonioli, stated that the body will adopt the necessary measures to guarantee the protection of consumers, especially in situations that could put the physical integrity of the population at risk. Reports to Procon can be made in person at the agency's temporary headquarters, at Rua Romário Gomes, nº 235, in Jardim Flamboyant, from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm. Service also takes place at the Tamoios office, located at Shopping UnaPark, block B, room 4, on Mondays and Thursdays, from 9am to 4pm.
