Ponta do Ismael Complex Disclosure/Águas de Manaus The Ponta do Ismael Water Production Complex (PDI), in Compensa, will undergo a scheduled improvement this Wednesday (05), as part of the work for the Amazon Summer, the period of greatest demand for treated water in the city. The two stations operating at the site will need to be temporarily shut down, which should cause water shortages in neighborhoods in the North, South, Central-South, West, Central-West and part of the East zones. The work will begin at 6am and is expected to be completed at 6pm on the same day. As soon as the stations are turned back on, in the early evening, the supply begins to gradually return. In central regions and neighborhoods closest to Ponta do Ismael, the system will be reestablished within 12 hours. In the highest areas of the city, the service must be fully normalized within 48 hours after the end of maintenance — that is, on Friday (07). Given this deadline, Águas de Manaus recommends that the population reserve water before Wednesday so as not to have their routine impacted. And that the reservation includes the period for reestablishing the service, that is, up to two days. The dealership also advises the conscious use of the resource during the period, avoiding activities such as washing clothes and car washing. While the PDI Complex is out of operation, teams from the concessionaire will also carry out 38 interventions in other operational units spread across Manaus, such as changing valves, cleaning and inspections. "These services are necessary to keep the capital's supply running throughout the year. This improvement is carried out every year to guarantee preventive maintenance of the system and the quality of the service provided to the population, especially on the eve of the Amazon Summer, which is the period of greatest demand for water in Manaus. We are working to make the process as agile as possible and to minimize impacts on customers' daily lives", says Operations Manager at Águas de Manaus, Jessica Candeia. During the interruption, Águas de Manaus teams will be mobilized with water tankers to supply priority points, such as hospitals, Basic Health Units and schools located in the affected areas.
