Paty Maionese celebrates 24 years of drag art in Alagoas

At the time, drag queen performances took place mainly in nightclubs and bars aimed at the LGBTQIAPN+ public. According to the artist, she sought to expand this space by taking the shows to birthdays, weddings, schools, theaters, companies, social projects and cultural festivals. "When I started, I faced a lot of prejudice and heard countless times that it wouldn't work. Many doors closed, but I never thought about giving up. I believed in my work and moved on," he said. Throughout her career, Paty built a style marked by pink costumes and presentations based on humor and improvisation. She says she opted for a repertoire aimed at the whole family, without the use of swear words or content considered appealing. "Today we see drag queens occupying space on television, in theater, in cinema and on social media. This recognition is the result of the resistance of many artists who faced prejudice when almost no one believed in this art. I am proud to be part of this history", he said. In addition to presentations, Paty Maionese also works as a cultural producer and develops projects aimed at inclusion, diversity and the appreciation of popular culture. On the eve of completing 25 years of career, she states that she intends to continue using art as a way to promote respect and entertainment.
