Banda Lizium, from Rio de Janeiro, is a finalist in the João Rock band competition The band Lizium, from Niterói (RJ), is one of the three finalists in the competition for a place on the main stage of João Rock 2026. The selection for the last phase of the competition took into account public voting, in addition to technical criteria such as originality, artistic presence and musical quality of the band from Rio de Janeiro. The decision takes place this Saturday (18) in Ribeirão Preto (SP). On the occasion, the group will perform live for the judges alongside the bands A Graxa (SP) and Vaine e Funkse (MG). The winner guarantees a show at the opening of the festival, scheduled for August 1st. With a style christened by the members themselves as 'psychedelic pop rock', Lizium bets on a completely original repertoire. The sound mixes rhythms such as MPB, jazz, funk rock and electronic music to address existential themes, self-knowledge and protests. "In our songs we seek to convey our naked soul, we talk about human pains and pleasures, the doubts of existence, self-knowledge and the psychedelia embedded in the matter, always with a hint of humor and joy", explain the members. ?Click here to follow the g1 Ribeirão e Franca channel on WhatsApp Banda Lizium, from Niterói (RJ), is a finalist in the João Rock 2026 band competition Disclosure From underground to the final Lizium's lineup includes Pedro Marcolini (vocals), Pedrinho (guitar), João Soledade (keyboard), João Rollim (drums) and João Cabelo (bass). The quintet's trajectory began in 2021, when the musicians decided to play together while still in their teens. The official group, however, was only consolidated the following year with the entry of the keyboardist and vocalist. The route included improvised shows throughout Rio de Janeiro and the organization of author events. To participate in the João Rock selection, the musicians sent recordings of the live album "Lizium, O Espetáculo", recorded at the arts center at the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF). "Like every band that was born in the underground, we had to learn a little about everything in the artistic world. Furthermore, we connected with artists and the public through the independent promotion of our own festivals", say the members.
